About Marine Agency Corp

Marine Agency Corp was founded in 1922 and was then located in New York City. At that time, we offered only “marine” coverages (ocean cargo, shipping, and the like). Following the Great Depression, it became necessary to diversify our product offerings and began writing policies for all different types of businesses. An early success was in coverage for barber shops and beauty salons. Our then President, Darryl C Stevens, joined the agency in 1975. Under Darryl’s leadership, we built on our experience covering personal care businesses and expanded during the 1980’s to also provide coverage for electrology (permanent hair removal) and aesthetics (skin care) businesses.
